Take a look at the passage again:

You chose to connect the subordinate clause to the main clause in front, like this:

Erin cannot tolerate tight and restrictive clothing; because, she claims, she had been wrapped too tightly as a mummy in her previous Egyptian life.

Unfortunately, a semicolon cannot connect these two parts. Review the rules.
